Description

Pen Kalamkari sarees are a traditional form of hand-painted sarees that originate from the town of Srikalahasti in Andhra Pradesh, India.

This exquisite Mangalgiri cotton saree, on a black colour base and a golden zari border, features the traditional peacocks and flowers done up in multicolour, using natural colours. The beige blouse fabric, with a hand painted border, contrasts well against the black body of the saree.

The finesse of the work is testimony to the painting skill of the artist, a highly skilled female artisan from Srikalahasti.
